Recent Turner College Graduates Speak to Freshmen Business Students

As an August 2023 entry of Turner Business reported, the Turner College's introductory course -- BUSA 2115, Introduction to Business -- is being taken back into the laboratory during fall 2023 semester in order to develop some new ideas for generating greater interest in business among first-year students. One of the goals of the now-revamped course is to introduce students to the faculty in the Turner College and to have the students learn about each of the Turner College's majors and minors. One facet of the new plan has faculty from each discipline group -- accounting, economics, finance, management and marketing -- take ownership of a week of the course during this semester to provide students with lectures and interactive activities in an effort to introduce students to the faculty in the Turner College and to have the students learn about each of the Turner College's majors and minors. That process began back in August when the Turner College's economics faculty met with these students.
Another facet of the new plan has recent Turner College graduates meet with the same classes in order to provide an indication as to where students can find employment upon graduation from the Turner College. This occurred this week when a group four recent Turner College graduates, including Mary AldermanJarel HearstRolo Lopez and Marci Norris, spoke with freshman business students enrolled in the Turner College's BUSA 2115 courses. Alderman earned a BBA in marketing from the Turner College in 2023, and she is currently the Social Media Manager for Yalla Public Relations. Hearst earned a BS in computer games and programming skills from the TSYS School in 2023, and he is currently a freelance video game developer. Lopez earned a BBA in management from the Turner College in 2023, and he currently works as Area Coordinator for the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts. Norris earned a BBA in marketing from the Turner College in 2022, and she is currently the Chief of Staff to the Columbus City Manager. Turner Business joins the Turner College administration in thanking these young alumni for giving back to their alma mater.
