CSU Head Women's Soccer Coach Jay Entlich recently released a list of CSU faculty who have been chosen by a player as a member of the CSU faculty who has impacted the player in a positive way along their journey at CSU. Four Turner College faculty were included on the list, along with the player who nominated each. Management professor Phil Bryant was named by Sophia Leal, a freshman midfielder from Oxford, Georgia. Sophia attended Eastside High School and was a two-time all-region selection during her high school career. Through the first 10 games of 2024, she has scored one goal and recorded three assists.
Next, management professor John Finley was named by Lizz Forshaw, a graduate student forward from Stockton, England. Lizz, who attended IMG Academy in south Florida, has scored four goals and recorded four assists this season. During her senior year in 2023, she scored three goals and recorded two assists. As a junior in 2022, Lizz scored three goals and recorded four assists. During her sophomore year in 2021, she scored four goals and recorded one assist.
Joining Bryant and Finley is adjunct professor of business Rodrigo Obando, who was named by Juanita Escobar, a sophomore midfielder from Medellin, Colombia. Juanita attended Colegio Montessori, where she won a state championship in 2022. She has scored two goals and recorded two assists this season for CSU, while during her freshman year in 2023, she recorded one assist.
Lastly, economics professor Frank Mixon was named by Raegen Varvarigos, a freshman forward from Oviedo, Florida. Raegen attended Hagerty High School, where she was a two-time district champion and a two-time all-academic team selection.
In recognition of their efforts, these four Turner College and TSYS School faculty each received an invitation to attend CSU's home match against Georgia Southwestern State University on Wednesday, October 23, at 6 pm. There they will each be recognized at halftime and presented a special gift. All CSU faculty and staff may the match at no charge. This particular match also celebrates "Kicks for the Cure" night, which brings awareness to breast cancer.
