Downes Joins Turner College’s Butler Center

Meghan Downes recently joined the Turner College as Associate Director of the Butler Center for Business and Economic Research.  She earned a PhD in environmental and natural resource economics from the University of New Mexico, and she previously served on the economics faculty at New Mexico State University.  Dr. Downes’ research expertise includes the valuation of ecological, environmental, and natural resources, as well as quantitative and policy analysis of sustainable economic development.  She is an internationally recognized expert in renewable fuel technologies and has worked extensively with the U.S. Department of Energy on the economics and sustainability of renewable fuels.  Dr. Downes’ research has appeared in Forest Policy and Economics , Energy , Algal Research , Bioresource Technology , Journal of Economic Issues , and Journal of Forest Economics , among others .

Angelopoulou Joins TSYS School Faculty

Anastasia Angelopoulou recently joined the Turner College’s TSYS School as an assistant professor of computer science.  Angelopoulou comes to CSU from Wichita State University, where she served as an instructor of computer science from January of 2018 through July of 2018.  Professor Angelopoulou earned a PhD in computer science from the University of Central Florida in 2015.  Prior to that, in 2012, she earned an M.S. degree in computer science from the same institution.  Her research interests include modeling and simulation, human-robot interaction and task analysis, and her prior work on architecture and development in simulation modeling appears in a 2018 issue of Simulation .

Smith Joins Turner College Accounting Faculty

Stuart Smith recently joined the Turner College of Business as an assistant professor of accounting.  Smith comes to CSU from Louisiana Tech University, where he served as a visiting professor of accounting from fall of 2016 through summer of 2018.  Professor Smith earned a PhD in accounting from Georgia State University in 2017.  Prior to that, in 2010, he earned a B.S. degree in management from the Georgia Institute of Technology.  From 2011 to 2012, Smith, who is a licensed CPA, worked as an accounting analyst APCO in Norcross.  Between 2004 and 2008, Smith served in the U.S. Army, completing a 16-month deployment to Iraq.  During this period he was awarded the Combat Infantryman Badge and an Army Commendation Medal.

Li Joins Management Information Systems Faculty

Yaojie Li has joined the Turner College as an assistant professor of management information systems.  Li comes to CSU from Louisiana Tech University, where he recently completed his doctoral studies in MIS.  Professor Li is a member of the Association for Information Systems, and his research interests reside in behavioral IS Security, influenced by two streams of organizational studies - organizational structure and design and positive organizational behavior.  Li, who has been published in Managerial Auditing Journal , earned an undergraduate degree in business administration from Wisconsin Lutheran College.
