Finance Professor Gisung Moon Named Turner College Assessment Director

Finance professor and chair of the Department of Accounting and Finance, Gisung Moon, has been named as the Turner College's Assessment Director. According to Interim Dean Tesa Leonce's announcement at Tuesday's Fall 2026 meeting, the Assessment Director works collaboratively with the Assurance of Learning Committee to provide leadership, coordination, and oversight of all assessment activities supporting AACSB and SACS accreditation requirements. In this role Moon will manage and monitor learning outcomes across all academic programs, (1) ensuring that assessment processes and outcomes align with institutional and accreditation standards and (2) promoting a culture of continuous improvement through the systematic evaluation of student learning. The Turner College is halfway through the current AACSB reaccreditation cycle, which spans six years. The College earned (re)accreditation multiple times under the leadership of former Dean Linda Hadley, and once during Deborah Kidder's recent stint as Dean. In his first few months in this new position, Moon established an academic integrity task force that successfully piloted a new process for proctoring online exam taking. The new procedure involves utilization of the laptop camera facing the online student as well as the camera in the test taker's cellphone, which is situated in landscape mode several feet to one side of the student during the examination. Based on the success of the pilot program in curbing test-taking (academic) dishonesty, Moon and other members of the task force will be conducting workshops during the upcoming fall semester to familiarize other Turner College and TSYS School faculty with the mechanics of the new proctoring procedure.
