Turner Business is proud to announce that the winner of the 2025 Turner College Online Teaching Award is management information systems professor Jennifer Pitts. Pitts' impressive winning portfolio emphasizes that her approach to online teaching is grounded in evidence-based practices that support student success and equity in learning. All of her online courses (1) are developed by Quality Matters and Online Learning Consortium standards, ensuring accessibility to meet the needs of all learners, (2) integrate applied, real-world assignments that promote student engagement, critical thinking, and persistence, (3) ensure frequent, intentional interactions through instructor feedback, discussion boards, team-based projects, and formative assessments, and (4) incorporate tools such as Microsoft Teams to facilitate team collaboration and utilize discussion forums for student-student interaction, enabling students to engage in problem-solving and applied learning. Against this backdrop, Pitts has recently implemented a unique online teaching innovation in each of three separate MISM courses that she teaches. In her Principles of Information Systems Management course, Pitts has added an applied business process redesign assignment. In her Data Visualization course, Pitts integrated Tableau data visualization software through hands-on assignments. Finally, in her Project Management course Pitts has added a SWOT Analysis using Mind Mapping, leading into a semester-long strategic team project.
CSU Head Women's Soccer Coach Jay Entlich recently released a list of CSU faculty who have been chosen by a player as a member of the CSU faculty who has impacted the player in a positive way along their journey at CSU. Four Turner College faculty were included on the list, along with the player who nominated each. Management professor Phil Bryant was named by Sophia Leal , a freshman midfielder from Oxford, Georgia. Sophia attended Eastside High School and was a two-time all-region selection during her high school career. Through the first 10 games of 2024, she has scored one goal and recorded three assists. Next, management professor John Finley was named by Lizz Forshaw , a graduate student forward from Stockton, England. Lizz, who attended IMG Academy in south Florida, has scored four goals and recorded four assists this season. During her senior year in 2023, she scored three goals and recorded two assists.
