Hurt, Roche Nominated for 2025 Turner College Research Award

The first of the finalists for the 2025 Turner College Research Award is Turner College management professor Kevin Hurt. In 2024, Hurt published servant leadership studies in both American Business Review and Conflict Resolution Quarterly. The first of these is rated as an A-level journal by the Australian Business Deans Council, while the second has a B-level designation. In 2023 Hurt added a publication in the Journal of Values-Based Leadership, a feat he accomplished in 2022 as well. That same year, 2022, he also added a publication in the International Journal of Servant-Leadership. A 2020 publication in Evidence-Based HRM, another B-level journal, gave him six quality research pieces over the last few years. Lastly, Hurt's research has to date garnered 335 Google Scholar citations. That same source credits him with an h-index of 7 and an i10-index of 5. The first of these indicates that Hurt's seven most-cited studies have each garnered at least seven Google Scholar citations, while the latter indicates that he has five studies that have each garnered 10 or more citations.
     The second finalist for the 2025 Turner College Research Award is TSYS School computer science professor Rahmatullah Roche, who joined CSU at the beginning this this academic year.  In 2024, Roche published studies on neural and transformer networks in Nucleic Acids Research and Biology Methods & Protocols. Based on ratings provided by Scimago, the first of the outlets listed above is designated as an A-level journal, while the second holds the B-level designation. The previous year, 2023, was just as productive for Roche. Then he published in PLoS Computational Biology and Bioinformatics Advances, another A-level/B-level combination. Roche preceded these achievements with two 2022 publications in Proteins: Structure, Function and Bioinformatics, a B-level journal. In 2021, Roche produced a third A-level/B-level combination with his publications in PLoS Computational Biology and Frontiers in Molecular Biosciences, while 2020 arrived with another A-level publication in PLoS OneLastly, Roche's research has to date garnered 126 Google Scholar citations. That same source credits him with an h-index of 6 and an i10-index of 6. The first of these indicates that Roche's six most-cited studies have each garnered at least six Google Scholar citations, while the latter indicates that he has six studies that have each garnered 10 or more citations.

New Butler Center Report Identifies Employment Gaps in the Columbus Area

Officials in the Turner College's Butler Center for Research and Economic Development recently put the finishing touches on an extensive report on trends in educational programs and occupations in the Columbus area. The report also includes data on business and technology trends.  According to Fady Mansour , Director of the Butler Center, there are several key takeaways from the report regarding 10 occupational gaps that currently exist in the Columbus area. First,  software development occupation exhibits the biggest labor shortage, with the report adding that the TSYS School has a bachelor's degree program in information technology along with a new AI track for the bachelor's degree in computer science, both of which can qualify students for this occupation. TSYS School, Jianhua Yang, Lixin Wang Each among Top Five in the World

New research by computer scientists in the School of Information Technology at Universiti Utara Malaysia that ranks institutions and individuals on the basis of scholarship in the area of stepping-stone attacks heaps praise on the Turner College’s TSYS School of Computer Science and two of its faculty – Jianhua Yang and Lixin Wang .   The article, published in the April 2023 issue of the International Journal of Research in Engineering and Science , provides a bibliometric analysis of both publication and citation data from 2000 to September of 2022 related to research on stepping-stone intrusion.   Among several results, it reports that Columbus State University ranks second worldwide, trailing only the University of Houston, using total publications on the subject as the basis of comparison.   A number of other U.S. institutions appear in the top 10, including third-ranked North Carolina State University, fourth-ranked University of Illinois, sixth-ranked Iowa State U...
