After four years serving the TSYS School as Director of the TSYS Center for Cybersecurity, Patrick Aiken is departing for new career opportunities. He recently bid farewell to the TSYS School, and to an army of newly credential cybersecurity professionals, on his LinkedIn page. Turner Business is reposting that message here for the academic community to receive.
After four “bursting-at-the-seams” years as the Director of the TSYS Center for Cybersecurity, I’m leaving Columbus State University and starting a new, exciting chapter in my career. This is my “farewell and thank you” post. It’s been a blessing to have the opportunity to pour my heart and soul (and everything else) into building the most amazing (and effective) cybersecurity workforce development program I’ve ever seen. The lives that have been permanently changed through the Cybersecurity Nexus Program at CSU and the impact the program has made on the local community have been unbelievable. I’ll always cherish the relationships I’ve built during my time at CSU and in the National CAE in Cybersecurity Community. I’ll miss my teammates, student assistants, graduates who drop in regularly, industry partners, advisory board, faculty colleagues, staff member “buds,” and CSU administrators who supported and encouraged me – all the way up to the three Presidents I served during my four years at CSU. Way too many names for an extrovert/collaborator/relationship-builder like me to list. I’ll miss working together with my amazingly supportive wife on projects, even though they consumed our nights, weekends, and vacations. And grabbing lunch with her at the cafeteria when we both had the time. And finally, I will miss the amazingly encouraging and grateful students and the opportunities to help them truly change their lives! It is sobering to ponder that I was blessed (and trusted) to be a driving force of so many new careers launched, and lives transformed. Thank you all for allowing me to be a part of your lives and trusting me with this sacred responsibility. I hope you will all remember me in this role as someone who cared a lot and did as much as I could to help everyone around me. That was always my intent. God bless you all and keep striving for excellence for yourself and for others.
