The Turner College website recently underwent an update to include a new data dashboard. Some of the data included come from Steppingblocks. For example, Steppingblocks reports that the top employers of Turner College business graduates are (1) Aflac, (2) the U.S. Army, (3) TSYS, a Global Payments company, (4) Synovus, and (5) the Muscogee County School District. That same source reports that the skills most valued by Turner College business graduates are customer service, leadership, management, Microsoft Excel and strategic planning. Next, Steppingblocks also reports that the industries employing the largest numbers of Turner College business graduates are finance, education, information technology, insurance and healthcare, while the most common job titles held by Turner College business graduates are accountant, owner, manager, principal and account manager. In terms of student success and outcomes, the new dashboard indicates that Turner College enrollments fell from 1,774 in fall 2020 to 1,620 in fall 2021, and again to 1,615 in fall 2022, before rising to 1,737 in fall 2023. In terms of graduates, the Turner College awarded 345 degrees in 2021, 322 degrees in 2022 and 359 degrees in 2023. During fall of 2023, 220 Turner College students were enrolled in general business, followed by 176 in management, 114 in marketing, 106 in computer science software systems, 101 in finance, 100 in both cybersecurity and the M.S. program in organizational leadership, and 91 in accounting.
Officials in the Turner College's Butler Center for Research and Economic Development recently put the finishing touches on an extensive report on trends in educational programs and occupations in the Columbus area. The report also includes data on business and technology trends. According to Fady Mansour , Director of the Butler Center, there are several key takeaways from the report regarding 10 occupational gaps that currently exist in the Columbus area. First, software development occupation exhibits the biggest labor shortage, with the report adding that the TSYS School has a bachelor's degree program in information technology along with a new AI track for the bachelor's degree in computer science, both of which can qualify students for this occupation.
