Turner College Economist Reaches Professional Milestone

Turner College economist Frank Mixon recently reached the professional milestone of having 100 publications in A-rated academic journals. This occurred with his recent publication ranking women economists in the U.S. South, which was reported last week here at Turner Business. As indicated in the previous post, that paper is scheduled for publication in a future issue of Applied Economics. Being an economist, most of these publications by Mixon have appeared in A-rated economics journals. The 22 A-rated economics journals included in his research portfolio are the Journal of Applied Econometrics, Journal of Economic Perspectives, Economic Inquiry, Oxford Bulletin of Economics and StatisticsLand Economics, Energy Economics, Labour EconomicsPublic Choice, Southern Economic Journal, Economic Modelling, KyklosEconomics of Transition, Applied EconomicsEmpirical Economics, Journal of Sports Economics, Journal of Institutional Economics, Review of Industrial OrganizationInformation Economics and Policy, Resource and Energy Economics, Economics of Education Review, B.E. Journal of Economic Analysis & Policy and Tourism Economics.
     Mixon's research has also appeared in some of the top management and international business journals. The management journal list includes the Journal of Management, International Journal of Human Resource Management, American Business Review, Evaluation Review, Journal of Business Venturing Insights, International Journal of Manpower and Knowledge Management Research and Practice, while the international business journal list includes the Journal of World Business and International Business Review. In the areas of marketing and logistics, Mixon has published in the International Journal of Advertising and Transportation Research Part E: Logistics and Transportation Review. Lastly, in the area of finance, he has a publication in the A-rated Journal of Money, Credit, and Banking. With these lists Mixon has published in 12 A-rated journals in areas of business education other than economics.
     Finally, Mixon's research has been published in a number of interdisciplinary/non-business A-rated journals. This list contains six additional academic journals. These are the Journal for the Scientific Study of Religion, ScientometricsRationality and Society, Socio-Economic Planning Sciences, The Energy Journal and American Behaviorial Scientist. In all, Mixon's 100 publications appear in 40 separate A-rated academic journals. New Butler Center Report Identifies Employment Gaps in the Columbus Area

Officials in the Turner College's Butler Center for Research and Economic Development recently put the finishing touches on an extensive report on trends in educational programs and occupations in the Columbus area. The report also includes data on business and technology trends.  According to Fady Mansour , Director of the Butler Center, there are several key takeaways from the report regarding 10 occupational gaps that currently exist in the Columbus area. First,  software development occupation exhibits the biggest labor shortage, with the report adding that the TSYS School has a bachelor's degree program in information technology along with a new AI track for the bachelor's degree in computer science, both of which can qualify students for this occupation.
