Meghan Downes recently joined the Turner College as Associate Director of the Butler Center for Business and Economic Research. She earned a PhD in environmental and natural resource economics from the University of New Mexico, and she previously served on the economics faculty at New Mexico State University. Dr. Downes’ research expertise includes the valuation of ecological, environmental, and natural resources, as well as quantitative and policy analysis of sustainable economic development. She is an internationally recognized expert in renewable fuel technologies and has worked extensively with the U.S. Department of Energy on the economics and sustainability of renewable fuels. Dr. Downes’ research has appeared in Forest Policy and Economics, Energy, Algal Research, Bioresource Technology, Journal of Economic Issues, and Journal of Forest Economics, among others.
The long-awaited journal review being conducted by the Australian Business Deans Council (ABDC) has been released and there are a number of news items that relate to faculty in the Turner College. One of these is the ABDC's decision to now include Compensation and Benefits Review in its journal rankings. This is big news for the Turner College as its editor, Phil Bryant , is a professor of management in the Turner College. The ABDC is proposing that the journal enter its system for the first time as a C-rated journal. Acting Turner College Dean Tesa Leonce sits on the journal's editorial board, while Turner College management professor Mark James has guest-edited an issue of the journal.
