TSYS School to Present AI Symposium on September 11th

The TSYS School will be offering a symposium on artificial intelligence titled "AI in Action: Emerging Trends, Responsible Use, and Practical Applications," on September 11, 2026, from 10:00am until 12:30pm in Room 205 in the Synovus Center. Kicking off the event will be Lydia Ray, who will present "THINK Before You Prompt: A Guide to the Sustainable and Responsible Use of Generative AI" from 10:00am until 10:30am. Ray will be providing a practical discussion of how to use generative AI thoughtfully, responsibly, and sustainably. Next, from 10:40am until 11:10am, Janice Canedo will deliver a talk titled "AI Agents in the Cybersecurity Policy Classroom." Canedo will provide an exploration of how AI agents can be incorporated into cybersecurity policy education to enhance student learning and engagement. From 11:20am until 11:50am, Rahmatullah Roche will deliver an introduction to cloud-based resources that support AI development, experimentation, and deployment, with a focus on opportunities for teaching, research, and practical applications. This introduction is titled "Cloud Resources for AI: Tools, Platforms, and Opportunities." Lastly, from 12:00 noon until 12:30pm Donnie Wendt will present under the title, "What’s Next in AI? Emerging Trends from Research, Conferences, and Industry." This session will highlight emerging AI technologies, trends, and developments, drawing on insights from recent AI conferences, industry developments, and professional experience. TSYS School Chair Rania Hodhod requests that those who are interested in attending RSVP by the date of the event, as lunch will be provided.

ABDC Releases 2025 Journal Review, Now Ranks Journal Edited by Phil Bryant

The long-awaited journal review being conducted by the Australian Business Deans Council (ABDC) has been released and there are a number of news items that relate to faculty in the Turner College. One of these is the ABDC's decision to now include Compensation and Benefits Review in its journal rankings. This is big news for the Turner College as its editor, Phil Bryant , is a professor of management in the Turner College. The ABDC is proposing that the journal enter its system for the first time as a C-rated journal. Acting Turner College Dean Tesa Leonce sits on the journal's editorial board, while Turner College management professor Mark James has guest-edited an issue of the journal.
