The Georgia Center for Opportunity (GCO) reports that the BETTER WORK Jobs for Life class at the Muscogee County Jail in Columbus recently celebrated a graduation, recognizing a group of individuals who have worked through challenges, rebuilt confidence, and are now more equipped to pursue purposeful work. According to the GCO, although the graduates were presented with certificates to celebrate completing the class, what they are taking with them goes far beyond an award. They are taking resources, hope, confidence, and a renewed belief that a different future is possible. This latest effort was led in part by Turner College graduate Kristin Barker, Vice President of Workforce Solutions at GCO. "We have been privileged to partner with the Muscogee County Sheriff’s Office for this class. Getting to know our graduates, learning about them and hearing their stories was such a blessing," Barker stated. Barker earned a BBA in marketing from the Turner College in 1990. She followed that accomplishment by earning a Turner College MBA in 2010.
