CSU Provost Dustin Anderson updated the CSU community this morning on the administrative job searches that are planned or currently ongoing. As he noted, CSU is currently planning for searches for Dean positions in two colleges and looks forward to identifying exceptional leaders who will help advance the university's mission and support the success of our students, faculty, and staff. "I am grateful to Wanda Ebright, who will chair the search for the College of Letters and Sciences Dean, and Margie Yates, who will chair the search for the Turner College Dean. Their leadership and commitment will be invaluable as we work to attract outstanding candidates for these important roles. We are looking forward to hearing your feedback on the kinds of leaders we're looking for in these colleges," Anderson stated. He also broke news by announcing plans for a search for a new Executive Director of Emergent Technology. "Last August, we began a year-long analysis of the future of Emergent Technologies at CSU. The goal of that analysis is to more closely align CSU’s strategic priorities and to engage more closely with local and regional economic, industrial, educational and community partners. The result of the analysis was the establishment of the Columbus State Emergent Technology Institute. The promise of this new Institute has been met with significant support from our community partners, and a number of gifts have already been made to the university in its support," Anderson announced. Once the new Executive Director is in place, CSU will begin the work of the Institute and formalize collaborations, resources, and interdisciplinary initiatives threaded through departments and across colleges. That Director's charge will be to translate CSU's pedagogy and philosophy into real-time practice and drive ongoing innovation in our courses to meet the needs of a quickly changing area. Shawn Cruzen has agreed to chair this search. Anderson added that details for these three searches will be posted on a public-facing university search website next week that will include the search committees, timelines, and ways to contribute ideas, feedback, and nominations. In other search-related news, Anderson relayed that CSU has extended an offer to a candidate for the Director of the Faculty Center. Lastly, the search for the Associate Provost and Dean of Graduate Studies is underway and reviewing applications.
