The CSU Ethical Hacking Team, established just this year as an initiative of the TSYS Center for Cybersecurity, recently placed 60th in the nation, and 26th in the region, at the 2026 National Cyber League National Championship. The NCL National Championship competition is the gold standard in cyber competitions and provides students with experience in solving real-world cybersecurity challenges, such as identifying hackers, penetration testing, digital forensics and ransomware recovery. Every year over 10,000 students from more than 500 colleges and universities across the U.S. participate. This year's CSU team roster included Elijah Starkey, Ari Betan-Snook, Kasey McGrath, Jude Pontes, Jake Rogers, Nicholas Cieplensky and Benjamin Altizer. Winning this year's competition was Colorado State University – Pueblo, while the top five also included Cedarville University, University of Hawai'i – West Oahu, Anderson University and the United States Military Academy. Other USG and Georgia-based institutions finishing in the Top 100 include the University of Georgia (10th), College of Coastal Georgia (27th), Augusta University (40th), Kennesaw State University (54th), University of North Georgia (94th) and Mercer University (95th). CSU's team finished ahead of Marshall University (65th), Utah State University (70th), UNLV (86th), Purdue University (87th) and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (97th). Congratulations are also owed to Sean Gleiberman, Director of the TSYS Center for Cybersecurity, for developing this initiative, and TSYS School lecturer Christopher Lovelock for coaching the team.
The long-awaited journal review being conducted by the Australian Business Deans Council (ABDC) has been released and there are a number of news items that relate to faculty in the Turner College. One of these is the ABDC's decision to now include Compensation and Benefits Review in its journal rankings. This is big news for the Turner College as its editor, Phil Bryant , is a professor of management in the Turner College. The ABDC is proposing that the journal enter its system for the first time as a C-rated journal. Acting Turner College Dean Tesa Leonce sits on the journal's editorial board, while Turner College management professor Mark James has guest-edited an issue of the journal.
