Turner College Accounting and Finance Major Nhi Do Enhancing Learning Experience through Butler Center Responsibilities
The presence of the Turner College's Butler Center for Research and Economic Development has not only benefitted local businesses and governments, it has also provided a unique opportunity for some of the Turner College's most talented students. That applies to Nhi Do, a Turner College accounting and finance major who works as an Economic Research Assistant in the Butler Center. In this position Nhi conducts research and organize datasets in order to support ongoing economic and community development projects. This process involves assisting with drafting, editing, and finalizing research reports for publication, supporting project coordination through data collection, communication, and administrative tasks, and engaging with community members and local organizations through outreach and interviews to gather qualitative insights. As Do explained to Turner Business, "I recently had the opportunity to contribute to a report [titled 2026 Columbus Economy] that marked an important milestone for me. While it wasn't my first experience in designing a report, it was my first time genuinely engaging with data — analyzing, questioning, and comprehending its true meaning." In addition to creating surveys, forms, posters, and flyers that promote the Butler Center's initiatives and encourage public participation, Nhi has also had the opportunity to support event planning and communications to efficiently promote Butler Center programs and research outcomes. One of these was the recent Georgia Economic Outlook event hosted by the Turner College. "The chance to learn from and collaborate with [Butler Center Director Fady Mansour] encouraged me to think critically and expand my knowledge beyond the classroom. This opportunity also offer[ed] me a chance to attend the 43rd Annual Georgia Economic Outlook event," Nhi stated. It's clear from today's Turner Business posts that the Butler Center is one of the Turner College's crown jewels. As Nhi adds, "These small steps represent meaningful progress in my learning journey. I am grateful for the experience and look forward to continued growth."
