Turner College News & Notes ― December 9, 2025

CSU's Academic Center for Tutoring & Coaching has recently highlighted the valuable work that the Turner College's academic success coaches are doing each day. The Center followed up this week by recognizing the coaches' efforts in setting up a hot cocoa bar in the Synovus Center for business and computer science students who were completing their final exams. As it noted, "Our Academic Success Coaches brought the warmth this past week—literally. From sharing study tips to serving up steaming cups of hot cocoa, they were out in full force supporting our Turner College students during their finals week hot cocoa bar. The room was filled with holiday cheer, encouragement, and the sweet reminder that no one has to face finals alone. A huge thank-you to our incredible coaches and Turner College staff for creating a welcoming space and for the care they pour into our students' success every day. Moments like these make all the difference."
If you work in the nonprofit sector in Columbus, Georgia, and would like to pursue a graduate degree, Wesleyan College and the Bradley Turner Foundation are offering a scholarship program intended to strengthen professional capacity within the Columbus area by making high-quality graduate education accessible to local professionals. Wesleyan College is located in Macon, but its graduate programs are available fully online or in hybrid formats. As the notice at left indicates, students who are accepted in the program will (1) have 50% of their tuition paid by the Bradley Turner Foundation, (2) have 50% of their tuition paid by Wesleyan College, and (3) be encouraged to remain in the Columbus area after completion of their degree. Wesleyan College offers MA degrees in Music and Teaching, an MEd, and an MBA. These programs are all qualified for the scholarship program described above. Lastly, as of today, there is no indication as to why CSU is not involved in this program, either in addition to Wesleyan College or instead of Wesleyan College, as it is aimed at benefitting the Columbus area economy and it is funded by an iconic Columbus-based foundation.
NetPlanner contractors are on campus this week working on surveillance camera installations. There are two contractors around the university working to install new cameras and replace old cameras. Each should have a NetPlanner logo shirt and have an ID that identifies them should you need to verify them. Their general workday is 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. (no weekends).
