Turner College Faculty Most Prominent Among CSU's Top Scholars

A couple of key departures from CSU faculty have combined with steady progression of CSU business and computer science faculty to place Turner College and TSYS School faculty in a position of prominence with regard to Google Scholar citations. Last year's departure of former CSU biologist Kevin Burgess for Mercer University and the recent departure of former CSU robotics engineer Mahmut Reyhanoglu for Wentworth Institute of Technology meant the loss of two of CSU's top five scholars. Now, the ranking of CSU faculty by Google Scholar citations is even more dominated by Turner College business faculty and TSYS School computer science faculty. According to the most recent career Google Scholar citations data, the top five CSU faculty are Frank Mixon (economics), Deb Kidder (management), Phil Bryant (management), Johnny Ho (management) and Kate Early (exercise science). The top 10 is rounded out by Riduan Abid (computer science), Robin Snipes (management), Patricia Patrick (teacher education, leadership and counseling), Jennifer Pitts (management information systems) and Linqiang Ge (computer science). The data therefore indicate that Turner College/TSYS School faculty account for 80% of both the top five and top 10 CSU faculty by Google Scholar citations. Particularly impressive here is that one half of the CSU's top 10 come from the management faculty, with 60% of the top 10 coming from the Department of Management and Marketing. Three additional management faculty - Kirk Heriot, Laurence Marsh and Neal Thomson - rank 13th, 15th and 21st, respectively, meaning that Turner College management faculty account for 8 of the top 21 CSU scholars by Google Scholar citations. Also included among CSU's top 25 are Ben Blair (economics), Ed O'Donnell (marketing) and Hyrum Carroll (computer science), while Mark James (management), Kevin Hurt (management) and Yi Zhou (computer science) are among CSU's top 30. The first two of these three put 10 management faculty among the top 30 at CSU.
