Turner College's Kevin Hurt Studies Interaction between Servant Leadership, Healing and Trauma Stressors
Turner Business recently spoke with Turner College management professor Kevin Hurt about his latest research. Hurt stated that he is currently working on a project investigating the influence of traumatic stressors on the relationship between servant leadership and group identity development. According to Hurt, "We combine aspects of servant leadership theory, social identity theory, and military leadership doctrine to put forth a conceptual model and evidence-based propositions, positioning servant leadership and healing as vital mechanisms for building resilience, promoting long-term well-being, and group identity development in the face of traumatic experiences." Hurt's research suggests that a three-way interaction between servant leadership, healing, and traumatic stressors positively influences group identity development by reducing the negative impact of trauma.
