TSYS School's Zhou Producing at High Level

A recent series here at Turner Business highlighted the A-level journal publications produced by faculty members in the TSYS School and Turner College. As that series showed, since the beginning of 2021 our faculty have combined to produce 59 A-level journal publications. A breakdown of this productivity by academic discipline appears in the table at the end of this post. Among the top three faculty is Yi Zhou, who has accounted for 11 of these 59 publications. Turner Business recently spoke with Zhou about his research endeavors, and some of that conversation is inserted below.

TB: As a recent series here at Turner Business revealed, you are among the top 3 faculty in the Turner College in terms of publishing in A-level journals. What drives your desire to explore research topics and to publish in high-quality journals?

YZ:  My interest in research and my desire to be involved in cutting-edge research topics drive me to do that.

TB: Do you prefer working alone, or with co-authors?

YZ: I prefer collaborating with other researchers because we can complement each other and make the research progress smoother and easier.

TB: What research topics are you currently working on?

YZ: I am currently working on research topics concerning computing systems, smart healthcare, storage systems, and DS/AI education.

New Butler Center Report Identifies Employment Gaps in the Columbus Area

Officials in the Turner College's Butler Center for Research and Economic Development recently put the finishing touches on an extensive report on trends in educational programs and occupations in the Columbus area. The report also includes data on business and technology trends.  According to Fady Mansour , Director of the Butler Center, there are several key takeaways from the report regarding 10 occupational gaps that currently exist in the Columbus area. First,  software development occupation exhibits the biggest labor shortage, with the report adding that the TSYS School has a bachelor's degree program in information technology along with a new AI track for the bachelor's degree in computer science, both of which can qualify students for this occupation.
