Synovus' Chief Information Security Officer Kevin Gowen recently spoke to cybersecurity professionals at a workforce impact conference in Dallas, Texas. According to TSYS Center for Cybersecurity Director Patrick Aiken, who also attended the event, "Kevin . . . delivered an inspiring presentation . . . about how Synovus . . . has partnered with the cybersecurity Nexus program at Columbus State University. His 'Cyber Fusion Center' has hired some outstanding and award-winning entry-level cybersecurity analysts from the Nexus program, which is part of the CyberSkills2Work coalition." As a TSYS Center for Cybersecurity Advisory Board member and frequent visitor to the TSYS School, Gowen has an intimate knowledge of the Nexus program. He described the program's impact on the local and regional cybersecurity community in the West Georgia/East Alabama area, including Fort Moore. Gowen received a CyberSkills2Work souvenir coin from Eman El-Sheikh, who leads the coalition.
The long-awaited journal review being conducted by the Australian Business Deans Council (ABDC) has been released and there are a number of news items that relate to faculty in the Turner College. One of these is the ABDC's decision to now include Compensation and Benefits Review in its journal rankings. This is big news for the Turner College as its editor, Phil Bryant , is a professor of management in the Turner College. The ABDC is proposing that the journal enter its system for the first time as a C-rated journal. Acting Turner College Dean Tesa Leonce sits on the journal's editorial board, while Turner College management professor Mark James has guest-edited an issue of the journal.
