Awards season at CSU has arrived, with next week being referred to as the Week of Excellence. On Monday, April 22, the Student Leadership Awards ceremony will be held in the Multipurpose Room in the Student Rec Center from 7:00 pm until 8:30 pm. Phi Kappa Phi inductions will take place on Tuesday, April 23, from 6:00 pm until 7:30 pm in the Lumpkin Center President's Club. On Wednesday, April 24, the Rapid-Fire Research Race Encore, the subject of a prior entry on Turner Business, will take place in the Schwob Memorial Library from noon to 1:15 pm. Friday, April 26, is a big day for CSU. The Scholastic Honors Convocation will be held from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm in the Cunningham Center. That day is also Tower Day on the CSU campus. CSU students will present their research from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm in the Cunningham Center.
Officials in the Turner College's Butler Center for Research and Economic Development recently put the finishing touches on an extensive report on trends in educational programs and occupations in the Columbus area. The report also includes data on business and technology trends. According to Fady Mansour , Director of the Butler Center, there are several key takeaways from the report regarding 10 occupational gaps that currently exist in the Columbus area. First, software development occupation exhibits the biggest labor shortage, with the report adding that the TSYS School has a bachelor's degree program in information technology along with a new AI track for the bachelor's degree in computer science, both of which can qualify students for this occupation.
