Kelsey Parker's Meteoric Rise from Accounting Intern to SEC Reporting Accountant at a Fortune 500 Company

To characterize the first six years of someone's professional career, moving from accounting internship to an SEC Reporting Accountant at a Fortune 500 company, as a meteoric rise is probably an understatement. That is, however, the description being used by Turner Business to describe the beginning of Kelsey Parker's professional career. That career took flight in April of 2017 as a closing coordinator for Edge & Kimbell Law here in Columbus. It continued January of 2018 with an accounting internship with Robinson, Grimes & Company, another Columbus business pillar. From there Kelsey transitioned to become a post closer with Morris, Manning & Martin. Of course, this part of Kelsey's professional journey was assisted by the BBA in accounting that she earned from the Turner College in 2018. During her four years of study at CSU, she was a member of Phi Mu, Order of Omega Honor Society, and the Accounting Club, all while serving in the Student Alumni Association, as a Turner College Diplomat, and in the Student Government Association. Kelsey's BBA in accounting was certainly vital to her next post as Financial Accounting Analyst II at Synovus, a local publicly traded firm where she worked from September of 2018 to April of 2021. In April of 2021, she took the next career step by joining Global Payments, Inc., another publicly traded company, where she became a Financial Analyst/Accountant II. It was during this period of her professional journey that Kelsey earned an MBA from the Turner College, positioning her to move to the local Fortune 500 company, Aflac, in September of 2022. There she began as Senior US FP&A Analyst, and in September of 2023 she was promoted to her current post as SEC Reporting Accountant II. Based on these details about Kelsey's professional journey thus far, we may need to buckle up before delving into future chapters. Turner Business will certainly keep an eye of her journey and bring you the latest.

In a recent chat with Turner Business , Turner College professor of marketing Sungwoo Jung made the point that luxury brands are gaining the degree of influence in many developing countries that they enjoy now in developed countries.  He has been pondering this issue as part of his international marketing research program, which typically focuses on advertising, pioneering advantages and multi-cultural analysis.  Currently, Jung is concentrating his energies on a cross-cultural analysis of brand equity that highlights luxury brands’ performance.  His research finds that China, Japan and South Korea have each seen an increase in market share for luxury brands in recent years.  As Jung explained to Turner Business , “These three countries share a common philosophical background – Confucianism.”  With that point in mind, Jung and his coauthors are currently engaged in an investigation of how Confucianism influences consumer behavior in these three Asian countries, and how that behavior im
