Director of the TSYS Center for Cybersecurity, Patrick Aiken, recently delivered what could be called the "State of the Nexus Cybersecurity Program" address to the CSU Foundation Board of Directors. According to Aiken, "It is always thrilling for me to talk about the program since we are experiencing expansion, changing students' lives, and providing amazing employees to secure and protect the world's digital assets. Regular followers of Turner Business are familiar with how the TSYS School's Nexus cybersecurity program is growing and providing full-time (and lucrative) employment to its graduates. In fact, one could argue that this program, along with the MSOL program, are the crown jewels of the Turner College's academic offerings.
For readers less familiar with this program, it is nicely described by Art Recesso, Vice Chancellor for Academic Innovation for the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia, in commenting on Aiken's recent presentation. As Recesso explained, "The nexus degree was created to meet the employer and learner demand. Employers want talent with advanced competency. Learners want a credential that gets them to a career goal. Patrick Aiken and others at Columbus State University have done an amazing job creating a cybersecurity option - and with the fintech concentration in Columbus they are addressing a local, state, and national demand." In summing up his presentation and visit, Aiken noted, "CSU has an amazing group of Trustees who support our institution and provide wise oversight. [O]ne of them [is] . . . Tim Money, who happens to be the Board's Chair. We both went to CSU together . . ."
