Turner Alumni, Hammer and Jackson, Named to '5 Under 40'

In the latest issue of Columbus and the Valley, the magazine's editors remarked that their annual selection of Columbus' 5 Under 40 provides them with a bird’s eye view of the hard work that goes into making our region the best that it can be. They also noted that this year’s 5 Under 40 selectees are tackling the big issues in classrooms, courtrooms and boardrooms, all in addition to working tirelessly to inspire change and to inspire those who follow to take up the charge. Turner Business is proud relay the news that two members of this year's 5 Under 40, which is co-sponsored by the Greater Columbus GA Chamber of Commerce Young Professionals, have Turner College Connections. These individuals are Melissa Ingle Hammer and Troy Jackson, and both are pictured in the center of the magazine's cover.
Hammer graduated from the Turner College in 2005, after earning a BBA in finance. She later went on to earn an MBA from Auburn University, a Specialist Certificate in Conduct Risk from the University of Manchester, a Certificate in Team Culture from the University of Pennsylvania, and a Certificate in Executive Presence from Cornell University. Hammer is currently the SVP of Fair Lending Product Management with RiskExec at Asurity. She previously worked as Compliance Manager of Fair Lending at Synovus, a senior regulatory consultant with Wolters Kluwer, and as VP of Compliance at TD. Hemmer explained to Columbus and the Valley that her job is to assist banks with their fair lending and regulatory compliance needs. "I use statistics to determine if there are discriminatory patterns in lending, underwriting and pricing, and then help banks develop programs to mitigate those risks," Hammer explained. When asked to describe her contributions to the greater Columbus community, Hammer stated, "What I'm probably most passionate about is being on the Columbus State University Alumni Association Board's scholarship committee where we distribute a good sum of funds to students who need them and are most deserving."
Jackson currently works as a Team Internal and External Engagement Manager with Synovus. As he described to Columbus and the Valley, "My job now is broken up into three pillars. One of them is team appreciation, recognition, and awards. Another pillar is planning events and conferences throughout our five-state footprint. And the last pillar is community outreach, including managing the donations we make to organizations in the communities in our network." Prior to joining Synovus, Jackson was the Director of Community Development and Growth with the Greater Columbus Chamber of Commerce. ". . . I went to work for the Greater Columbus Chamber of Commerce, and that is where my life kind of changed. It opened my eyes to how things work in our city, how the wheels turn. I really found the passion and drive in me to make Columbus a better place," he explained. Jackson earned a BBA in marketing from the Turner College in 2011, and currently serves on the CSU Alumni Foundation Board of Directors and the CSU Young Alumni Council.
