Turner College’s MSOL Program Becoming Pathway to Further Higher Education

Recent posts to Turner Business have highlighted the many impressive professional careers of graduates of the Turner College’s master’s degree program in organizational leadership (MSOL).  Continued examination of graduation data regarding this relatively new program reveals that it has become a gateway to further higher education.  This feature of the data goes back to the early origins of the MSOL program with Cortney Laughlin Wilson, who earned the MSOL degree in 2012 and is now a candidate for a doctorate in education from the Mary Frances Early College of Education at the University of Georgia.  Cortney is currently the director of CSU’s servant leadership program, and holder of CSU’s Frank D. Brown Distinguished Chair in Servant Leadership.  She previously earned a bachelor’s degree from CSU.  Becca Jones, an assistant professor of marketing in the Turner College who earned an MSOL degree from the Turner College in 2013, went on to earn a doctorate in marketing from the Fogelman College of Business & Economics at the University of Memphis in 2020.  She previously earned a bachelor’s degree from Reinhardt University, where she played collegiate softball.  A 2014 graduate of the Turner College’s MSOL program, Jason Pomeroy earned an MBA from the Kenan-Flagler Business School at the University of North Carolina in 2021.  Jason is currently the Director of Partner Success at Goalster in Wichita, Kansas.  He previously earned a bachelor’s degree from the United States Military Academy at West Point.  Gavin Ellman, an MSOL degree recipient in 2014 who is currently a facilities management officer in the U.S. Army, earned an MBA from the Harvard Business School in 2017.  Gavin previously earned an undergraduate degree from the University of Chicago.

The Turner College’s MSOL class of 2016 has been particularly active in this regard.  Among that class is Joseph Boland, who is currently an operations manager at Amazon in Malden, Massachusetts.  Joseph earned an MBA from the Eller College of Management at the University of Arizona in 2019.  He previously earned bachelor’s degree from the United States Military Academy at West Point.  Joining Boland in this graduating class is Alex Box, who in 2021 earned an MBA from the Quinlan School of Business and a J.D. from the School of Law, both at Loyola University – Chicago.  Alex previously earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Dayton.  Joining Bieron and Box is Travis Anderson, who is currently a major in the U.S. Army and who, in 2022, earned an MBA from the Graduate School of Business at Stanford University.  Travis previously earned an undergraduate degree from the United States Military Academy at West Point.  Also part of this class is Alexander Stodola
, a vice president at JP Morgan Chase & Co. in Houston, Texas, who earned an MBA from the Jones Graduate School of Business at Rice University in 2022.  Like Anderson, Alexander previously earned a bachelor’s degree from the United States Military Academy at West Point.  A fifth member of this class to pursue additional higher education is Gabriel Koshinsky, who earned a master’s degree in intelligence and national security studies at University of Texas – El Paso.  Gabriel previously earned an undergraduate degree from Capital University and is currently a major and branch chief in the U.S. Army.  Lastly, the MSOL class of 2016 includes Randall Combs, who recently earned a master’s degree in entrepreneurship from the Foster School of Business at the University of Washington.  Randall previously earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire.

The MSOL class of 2017 has been just as active in pursuing further higher education as the 2016 class.  The 2017 list includes Travis Griffin, who earned an MBA from the Olin Business School at Washington University – St. Louis in 2020.  Griffin, who currently works as a transportation and warehouse manager for Proctor & Gamble in St. Louis, Missouri, previously earned a bachelor’s degree from the United States Military Academy at West Point.  Next, Christian Peralta earned an MBA degree from the Paul Merage School of Business at the University of California – Irvine in 2022.  Christian previously earned bachelor’s degree from the University of California – Irvine and is currently the Director of UCI’s Leadership Development Institute.  Weston Boose, another 2017 graduate of the Turner College’s MSOL program, earned an MBA from the Johnson College of Business at Cornell University in 2022.  Weston, who currently works as an assistant product manager for the U.S. Army, previously earned a bachelor’s degree from the United States Military Academy at West Point.  Will Sutherland earned an MBA from the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University in 2022.  Will currently works as a North American sales-operations analyst for Genesys in Round Hill, Virginia.  He previously earned a bachelor’s degree from the United States Military Academy at West Point.  Next, Evan Walsh earned an MBA from the Owen Graduate School of Management at Vanderbilt University in 2022.  Evan previously earned bachelor’s degree from the United States Military Academy at West Point and is currently a strategist in the U.S. Army.  Lastly, Sean Milde is currently a J.D. candidate at Fordham University’s School of Law.  Sean previously earned a bachelor’s degree the University of Scranton.

The data above suggest that completion of additional graduate education programs occurs about five years after graduating with an MSOL degree from the Turner College.  This means that information of the further educational pursuits of the MSOL class of 2018 will be coming to light in 2023.  Even so, there is some information on more recent graduates of the MSOL program that has been discovered by Turner Business.  One example is Baruch Roche, a 2020 graduate of the Turner College’s MSOL program who earned an MBA from the Scheller College of Business at the Georgia Institute of Technology in 2021.  Roche, who currently works as a Chief of Plans for the U.S. Army, previously earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of South Florida.  Stay tuned to Turner Business for more details on this trend.
