The Turner College of Business’ 2018 Business Plan Competition was, according to Crowley Professor of Management Kirk Heriot, a resounding success, drawing submissions from 31 individuals and teams, all vying for the $6,000 in total cash prizes. Capturing third place in the 2018 Competition was Nathan Carr for his concept known as Sonic Air Flow. Carr’s concept, which earned him a cash prize of $1,000, uses turbine-powered fans that can be used to regulate the heat in buildings that have large open spaces. Taking second place, and $2,000, was Victor Feliciano, whose concept is known as Vicinity Tours. Feliciano’s business provides tours of Columbus to out-of-town visitors, and is, according to Heriot, “already earning revenue.” Finally, the top prize in the competition, and a cash gift of $3,000, went to Kimberly Presley for a concept known as Alternative Clay Targets. Presley’s company will produce biodegradable, and even edible, targets for skeet shooting, replacing the traditional clay targets that can be hazardous to wildlife and the environment. Presley is current a business administration major in the Turner College at CSU.
