Turner College alum Elizabeth Hurst has been promoted to Vice President of Communications at Dairy MAX, a Dallas-based non-profit dairy council representing more than 900 dairy farms across eight states. Elizabeth joined Dairy MAX as Communications Manager in January of 2017 and was elevated almost one year later to Director of Corporate Communications. She graduated from Middle Tennessee State University in 2006 and began her professional career as Production Manager with Dye, Van Mol & Lawrence. She advanced with that organization to the role of Account Executive. In December of 2011, Elizabeth took on the role of Vice President of Community Relations and Marketing with Uptown Columbus. She held that post until May of 2015, when she graduated from the Turner College with an MS in organizational leadership. In July of 2015, she became the Main Street Program Coordinator for the City of McKinney (Texas), holding that position for six months before taking on the post of Program Manager for Klyde Warren Park in Dallas. Officials in the Turner College's Butler Center for Research and Economic Development recently put the finishing touches on an extensive report on trends in educational programs and occupations in the Columbus area. The report also includes data on business and technology trends. According to Fady Mansour , Director of the Butler Center, there are several key takeaways from the report regarding 10 occupational gaps that currently exist in the Columbus area. First, software development occupation exhibits the biggest labor shortage, with the report adding that the TSYS School has a bachelor's degree program in information technology along with a new AI track for the bachelor's degree in computer science, both of which can qualify students for this occupation. Other educational programs are in demand, such as computer programming and cloud computing. Second, there is a gap of 30 employees per year in general and operations management.
