Information security experts, Joseph Frantz and Benjamin Knox, recently visited the Synovus Center on CSU's main campus to speak to the TSYS School's cybersecurity Nexus students. Frantz is the Director of Information Security and Cyber Threat Defense at Synovus. Knox, a former TSYS School Nexus student, is IAM Engineer at Synovus. Frantz earned an A.D. in avionic systems technology from the Community College of the Air Force in 2011. That same year he completed the B.S. degree in from the University of Phoenix. In 2013, Frantz earned an MBA from the University of Phoenix, which he followed up a year later by earning a second A.D. (military information systems technology) from CCAF. Lastly, in 2018 he earned an M.S. in information assurance from the TSYS School. Frantz and Knox spoke to the Turner College students about Zero Trust Security. The visit was summed up aptly by Patrick Aiken, the Director of the Turner College's TSYS Center for Cybersecurity, "It's cool to see former students like Joseph and Ben come back and mentor those coming behind them, . . . sharing current events and concepts."
Officials in the Turner College's Butler Center for Research and Economic Development recently put the finishing touches on an extensive report on trends in educational programs and occupations in the Columbus area. The report also includes data on business and technology trends. According to Fady Mansour , Director of the Butler Center, there are several key takeaways from the report regarding 10 occupational gaps that currently exist in the Columbus area. First, software development occupation exhibits the biggest labor shortage, with the report adding that the TSYS School has a bachelor's degree program in information technology along with a new AI track for the bachelor's degree in computer science, both of which can qualify students for this occupation.
