Turner College economist Frank Mixon was recently named Editor of the Journal of Financial Economic Policy (JFEP), with his term set to
begin in January of 2023. The JFEP,
which is part of Emerald Publishing’s journal portfolio, publishes research involving financial institutions,
financial policy, control issues for firms, central bank policy, risk and
uncertainty, and the economics and financial dimensions of market and
non-market phenomena. The JFEP’s
editorial board currently includes scholars from Columbia University,
University of California – Berkeley, New York University, Georgetown
University, University of Florida, Ohio State University, University of
Wisconsin, and American University. The
beginning of Mixon’s tenure at the helm of the JFEP will coincide with the
journal’s fifteenth year of publication.
Officials in the Turner College's Butler Center for Research and Economic Development recently put the finishing touches on an extensive report on trends in educational programs and occupations in the Columbus area. The report also includes data on business and technology trends. According to Fady Mansour , Director of the Butler Center, there are several key takeaways from the report regarding 10 occupational gaps that currently exist in the Columbus area. First, software development occupation exhibits the biggest labor shortage, with the report adding that the TSYS School has a bachelor's degree program in information technology along with a new AI track for the bachelor's degree in computer science, both of which can qualify students for this occupation.
