Turner College Holds First-Ever Honors Convocation

The Turner College of Business held its first-ever Honors Convocation on April 27, 2018.   Associate professor of marketing, Ed O’Donnell , served as the Master of Ceremony, and departmental awards were presented by department chairs John Finley , Uma Sridharan and Wayne Summers .   Fifteen students took home various departmental awards in accounting, computer science, finance, information systems, management and marketing.   Turner College Associate Dean Fonda Carter presented the 2018 Beta Gamma Sigma honorees.   This year, 38 Turner College undergraduate students and eight graduate students were inducted into Beta Gamma Sigma. Turner College Dean Linda Hadley concluded the ceremonies by presenting various awards to faculty and staff.   Associate professor of economics, Tesa Leonce , received the Outstanding Teaching Award, while Shamim Kahn , professor of computer science, won the Outstanding Graduate Teaching Award.   The Spirit Award was presented t...

Cotten Recognized as Finalist for CSU Educator of the Year

Turner College associate professor of finance Brett Cotten was recognized among five finalists for Columbus State University Educator of the Year during the Scholastic Honors Convocation in April of 2018.   Cotten teaches courses in investments, corporate finance, international finance, and security analysis.   He is also the faculty advisor for CSU’s chapter of the Financial Management Association and, in this role, has led student trips to the University of Dayton’s RISE Conference and Quinnipiac University’s FAME Forum.   He has also served as the advisor for two student teams participating in the CFA Institute’s Equity Research Challenge.   Professor Cotten’s research has appeared in the Quarterly Journal of Finance and Accounting , Financial Services Review , and the Journal of Applied Research in Finance and Accounting .   Turner College associate professor of marketing Ed O’Donnell , the 2017 Educator of the Year Award winner, presented the 2018 Award.
