The 2024 iteration of the Turner College's Study Abroad program will occur in Ireland, a destination that was last selected in 2019. Leading the 2024 program is  Kirk Heriot , the Crowley Chair of Entrepreneurship and professor of management. "The itinerary has been finalized, and we have made some changes to the program that will make it more affordable for our students," Heriot explained to Turner Business. Interested Turner Business students should contact Heriot with any questions they may have about the 2024 program.

A number of prominent CSU executives are scheduled to speak to Turner College faculty and staff today from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm.  First, new CSU President Stuart Rayfield and interim CSU Provost Pat McHenry will speak to the college about the 2023-24 academic year.  Brandon Lindley of UITS will provide a presentation about internet and other services provided by the university.  Mariko Izumi, Director of CSU's Career Center, will also be on hand to speak about services her organization can provide to Turner College students.  Turner College faculty will also receive reports from Dean Deb Kidder , Susan Hrach, and Rania Hodhod , a professor in the TSYS School of Computer Science.

The Turner College's management information systems faculty is growing this year with the addition of Insung Hwang . Hwang joins the Turner College's Department of Management and Marketing as an assistant professor. He earned both a B.A. and M.A. in applied statistics from Yonsei University in South Korea. He later graduated from McGill University with a PhD in information systems. His research program investigates how IT affects labor productivity through specialization and urban agglomeration. Hwang comes to CSU from Lehigh University, where he served as a visiting assistant professor. Outside of academia, he has also worked as a biostatistician at Celltrion Inc. where his focus involved international clinical trial projects for biosimilar products.

Congratulations to CSU's women's soccer team, which ranks third nationally in the preseason coaches poll.  The team, which is fresh off a Final Four appearance during the 2022 season, typically includes a number of Turner College students.

Fall Planning Week 2023 kicks off this morning, August 7, 2023, with a faculty and staff continental breakfast from 8:00 am to 9:15 am in the University Hall lobby. From there the festivities move to the University Hall Auditorium, where  newly-appointed CSU President Stuart Rayfield  will present a "Welcome Address" from 9:30 am to 10:30 am.  Next, CSU faculty will move to the Davidson Center Auditorium for the Campuswide Faculty Meeting from 10:45 am to 11:45 am.  At noon the activities break down to the college level, when the Turner College will have a luncheon from noon to 1:00 pm, followed by a college-wide meeting from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm.  Both of these events will be hosted by Turner College Dean Deb Kidder and take place in the Synovus Center's Ussery Lecture Hall .  Stay plugged into Turner Business  for news on these and other events.

With the start of the 2023-24 academic year, Columbus State University has made a series of academic and administrative leadership appointments, as well as physically and administratively relocated some of its departments and units.  “The motivation behind many of these changes is to better serve our students, make better use of university facilities and to benefit from operational and teaching efficiencies. This is especially true where disciplines or subject matter complement one another and both faculty and staff in those areas can enhance collaboration,” explained Pat McHenry, interim provost and executive vice president. Among the appointments is that of Yesem Kurt-Peker , a professor in the TSYS School of Computer Science,  interim director of Graduate Studies.  In this new position Kurt-Peker will be reporting to Margie Yates, Dean of Research and Graduate Studies. CSU's Young Alumni Council is offering a chance for recent graduates of the Turner College to meet & greet CSU's newly appointed President, Stuart Rayfield.
