Turner Business has just been informed that KPMG Partner John Schaffner, CPA, has confirmed his willingness to speak to Turner College students and faculty about the Impact of AI on accounting and business. According to Turner College finance professor Uma Sridharan, who set up the talk. Schaffner's virtual (or video) presentation is set for Tuesday, November 11, from 12:30 pm to 12:55 pm. Schaffner has extensive experience supporting clients with buy-side and sell-side financial due diligence support (e.g. quality of earnings, net working capital, net debt, and underlying business performance), executing on roll-up strategies, carve-out transactions, cross-border transactions, purchase and sales agreement support, and aiding in securing financing and reps and warranties insurance.
Schaffner joined KPMG (Klynveld Peat Marwick Goerdeler) as an Associate in 2010. From there he rose to Senior Associate (2012) and Manager (2014), then Director (2016). In 2021 he was named Managing Director, a title he maintained until last month. Prior to joining KPMG, Schaffner earned an undergraduate degree in accounting (2008) and an MBA (2010), both from Indiana University in Bloomington. "It is rare for us to get partner level engagement from a Big 4 accounting firm. In my 10 years at CSU, I don't recall us ever having a partner from KPMG, Deloitte, Ernst & Young or PwC (Pricewaterhouse Coopers) talk to our students," explained Sridharan.
