Recent posts here at Turner Business have examined enrollment issues involving the Turner College's undergraduate business majors. The changes discussed in those posts are summarized in the table below. As shown below, in recent years the numbers of general business and marketing majors are down between 13.4% and 15.0%. The numbers of majors in accounting and management are down between 25.6% and 29.7%. Lastly, although the good news for the Turner College is that the numbers of finance and MIS majors have risen 19.4% and 75.6%, respectively, the total number of majors in the Turner College is down 11.4%.
The table above provides our first look at undergraduate enrollment in the TSYS School. As indicated above, the number of students majoring in computer science is down 32.1%, while the number of information technology majors has fallen by 18.9%. Offsetting these drops is the fact that the number of cybersecurity majors has risen a whopping 336.6%. Despite this massive jump, the number of majors in the TSYS School has risen only 5.5% over recent years. Lastly, the bottom portion of the table above shows how things are going across campus. Enrollments of majors in art, biology, chemistry, communication, criminal justice, earth and space science, English, history, kinesiology, mathematics, nursing, psychology and sociology are down between 4.4% and 69.6%. What is not shown in the bottom portion of the table above is that there were 3,290 students majoring in the subjects listed - art through sociology - in Fall of 2021. Now, in Fall 2025, there are only 2,631 students majoring in those subjects, representing a drop of 20%.
